The Way Forward

The grand opening for Melted is now in the history books.  Thank you to everyone (including a few 4-legged guests) who came to Whitestone Brewery to help us kick off this amazing project!  Team Melted churned out over 150 delicious meals.  It was a great celebration and show of support by the residents of Cedar Park and Austin!  Melted now is in full operation, so if you live in the Austin Area, check out our website for vending schedules.

As I look back on the past 6 months and how much has been accomplished, I’m in awe of the progress.  Melted went from a dream to a “concept” to full-blown operation with the help of an amazing team, but I won’t feel complete success until we can write the first check to IJM.  My mind is churning so many more ideas to build on what has been accomplished with Melted.  Can I use this platform to incentivize other young people to start their own social entrepreneurial projects? Who could help me take this nationally? Can I get more involved with efforts to provide protection to the poor in developing countries?  How could I obtain first hand knowledge of the experiences of someone who is enslaved?  The questions are endless.

I will be working on my global citizenship by traveling to Spain this week to participate in a Spanish language immersion program, so I may be out of blogging until the beginning of July.  I hope to return with some ideas for the way forward.  In the meanwhile, I remain deeply thankful to all those who helped make Melted a reality.  Adios amigos!
